Of all of the different things that you learn whenever you come onto the Internet with your business, it's the traffic that you get which is most going to impress you. As a matter of fact, many business people spend the majority of their time trying to hold a new traffic to their website and to keep it flowing. They can do this through search engine optimization, pay per click marketing or article marketing, but it really all adds up to the fact that they are trying to get more people to see their website.
Although it certainly is possible to be very successful in doing so, if you are ignoring the traffic that you are already getting, you are leaving a lot of money on the table. You might be surprised to learn that in some cases, it is possible to make much more money with less traffic if you do things properly. What I am talking about is testing and making sure that you are leveraging your traffic in the best ways possible. Here's how to do it.
The first thing that we're going to talk about is the testing process, and this is usually done by split testing online. You are going to be testing two versions of your page which have a slight variation from one another. After running some traffic through the website, you will be able to tell which of these pages converts to sales or leads better. Choose that page, get rid of the other one and then test it against yet another variation.
There is a reason why this type of split testing is called a/b split testing. It is because you are only testing one element on the webpage at a time. If you were to change two different things and noticed a difference in the way that something was converting, you would be unsure which of those two things it was that made the difference. Always test one thing against another and send at least 100 people through the page in order to determine which one will work the best.
Another way to get more out of your existing traffic is to make sure that you are leaving yourself the availability to contact them again in the future. If you are pulling people to your website and then simply allowing them to leave if they are not interested now, you have lost them forever. Give them the opportunity to leave you with their e-mail and you will be growing a list of perspective clients that will drive your business eventually.
Although it is a good idea to continue to get additional new traffic into your website, the existing traffic should never be ignored. You might just find that you are able to increase your numbers enough with your existing traffic that you will be able to drop a lot of the work that you are doing on pulling new traffic into the website.
